May 12 is International Women in Mathematics Day, in honor of the birthday of mathematician Maryam Mirzakhani, the first and only woman to receive a Fields Medal.

In celebration of this day, Grupo Elza will broadcast two short films suggested by the May12 website:

  • Olga Ladyzhenskaya: Russian mathematician known for her work with differences and fluids.
  • Journeys of Women in Mathematics: mini-documentary developed by the IMU Committee on women mathematicians.

The broadcast will be on Friday, May 12th, from 11am to 12pm at the auditorium of the Institute of Mathematics, Statistics and Scientific Computing, University of Campinas, Brazil.
