“Women in Mathematics Day” is observed annually on May 12th to mark the anniversary of the eminent lady Mathematician Maryam Mirzakhani’s birth. She was a Mathematician from Iran and a Professor of Mathematics at Stanford University. She was one of the world’s leading experts in geometry and dynamical systems. In 2014, she was awarded the Fields Medal for her outstanding contributions to the dynamics and geometry of Riemann surfaces and their moduli spaces, being the first woman to be recognized for her achievements in mathematics by this prestigious mathematical prize. The goal of the day is to inspire women everywhere to celebrate their achievements in mathematics and to encourage researchers to apply mathematics in innovation and technology. The day also highlights the advances and breakthroughs in the subject.
