Wie viele andere Felder ist auch die Mathematik und die Wissenschaft von Machtstrukturen gezeichnet. Was das genau heißt und wie man damit kritisch umgehen kann, wird in dem Vortrag „Formeln der Gleichberechtigung: Antidiskriminierung in MINT“ behandelt. Der Vortrag beschäftigt sich mit aktuellen Diskussionen zu Antidiskriminierung und Auswirkungen von Ungleichbehandlungen. Ziel ist es Machtverhältnisse offenzulegen und (eigene) Denk- und Handlungsweisen zu hinterfragen. Der Vortrag findet auf Deutsch statt. Es ist kein Vorwissen notwendig.

Zur Vortragenden: Sophie Irmey (sie/ihr) ist Sozialwissenschaftlerin und als Trainerin und Beraterin für Antidiskriminierung und Diversity in verschiedensten Kontexten bundesweit tätig. Als ehemalige Antidiskriminierungsbeauftragte einer Hochschule hat sie im Fall von Diskriminierung beraten und Strategien implementiert. Den Schwerpunkt ihrer Arbeit richtet sie auf die Reflexion von (strukturellen und individuellen) Verstrickungen in wirkmächtigen Systemen, um dann gemeinsam Handlungsmöglichkeiten zu erarbeiten.

Like many other fields, mathematics and science are characterized by power structures. What exactly this means and how to deal with it critically will be discussed in the lecture "Formulas of equality: Anti-discrimination in STEM". The lecture deals with current discussions on anti-discrimination and the effects of unequal treatment. The aim is to reveal power relations and to question (our own) ways of thinking and acting. The lecture will be held in German. No prior knowledge is necessary.

About the lecturer: Sophie Irmey (she/her) is a social scientist and works as a trainer and consultant for anti-discrimination and diversity in various contexts throughout Germany. As a former anti-discrimination officer at a university, she has advised and implemented strategies in cases of discrimination. The focus of her work is on reflecting on (structural and individual) entanglements in powerful systems in order to jointly develop possible courses of action.
