The London Hopper is for academic researchers across the UK who are building a career in computing.
Grace Hopper was an American mathematician and rear admiral in the U.S. Navy who was a pioneer in developing computer technology. Before joining the Navy, Hopper earned a Ph.D. in both mathematics and mathematical physics from Yale University and was a professor of mathematics at Vassar College.
The London Hopper Colloquium embraces mathematicians developing interdisciplinary studies connected to computing, and this year it has the theme "Quantum", which includes works in Quantum mathematics.
The event provides a platform for women in computer science to showcase their research, network with other new researchers, and take part in a research spotlight competition.
UCL Computer Science will host the 20th London Hopper Colloquium as part of the UCL200 programme of activities and events, celebrating and reinforcing our commitment to UCL’s founding values. This year’s event will be hosted at UCL East in Stratford, London.
