On the 12th of May, we invite you to ‘Paths in Maths’. We focus on potential career paths after finishing a math degree. Four successful mathematicians will share information on their career paths in academia and industry. Among others things, they will speak about how they obtained their first job, what their typical workday is like and which important experiences they gained on their ways.
Discrete Mathematics Day on the Adriatic Coast will take place on 12 May 2026 at InnoRenew CoE, Izola, in celebration of Women in Mathematics Day.
The event will bring together researchers and students working in discrete mathematics and related areas for a day of invited talks, discussions, and scientific exchange. It aims to highlight current developments in the field, foster collaboration, and celebrate the contributions of women to mathematics.
May 12th marks the birthday of Maryam Mirzakhani, an Iranian mathematician who is perhaps the most famous contemporary figure in her field, having passed away in 2017 at the age of 40. The international community celebrates this day to highlight the extraordinary role women play in the development of mathematics, encouraging young women to pursue its study and challenging gender prejudices.
