In recognition of the upcoming International Women in Maths Day, Flinders University, the University of Adelaide and the University of South Australia plan to run the SA Women in Maths Gathering on Friday, 17th May 2024.
The event will combine keynote talks, a panel discussion and networking sessions, over morning tea refreshments. The keynote talks will be delivered by senior and early-career researchers. The panel discussion will be about the imposter phenomenon. There will be networking opportunities at the beginning and during the event for everyone to meet each other, chat, and celebrate the day.
The event will include women in maths staff, PhD students, Masters, Honours students and some final-year undergraduate students from the three universities in Adelaide. We will also invite some Year 12 high school students whose school we recently made connections with. We also plan to include some “maths-adjacent” women, especially if they have few female colleagues in their discipline.
