Mujeres + matemáticas /Women + Mathematics

In commemoration of the World Day of Women Mathematicians, the Piñera Morel Foundation and the University of Chile will hold the first meeting of Women + Mathematics, which will bring together more than 200 female students from 1st to 4th grade of secondary school from Bicentenario Schools in the country.

The objective of this event is to encourage and promote young women to approach STEM (science, technology, engineering and mathematics) areas of knowledge, through a series of educational activities designed to strengthen their interest and motivate them for the future.
The event will be held at the Faculty of Physical Sciences and Mathematics (FCFM, University of Chile) and will include a tour of the Beauchef Campus, an exhibition on the history of the first female engineer, a couple of stands where women studentes could explore mathematics through creativity, led by a team of women academics, graduate and undergraduate students of mathematics and pedagogy of the Faculty of Sciences, among other participatory and educational spaces.
