On the occasion of May12, the University of L'Aquila and the Gran Sasso Science Institute are organizing an event to celebrate the International Women in Mathematics Day. The event will start with a reading of the theatrical piece «Emmy Doesn’t Care...», written by Annalisa Panati (University of Toulon), which brings to the stage the figure of Emmy Noether (1882-1935) through a lively and at times provocative dialogue. Blending irony and debate, the text intertwines her scientific and personal story with a critical reflection on the representation of women in science and the idea of a “role model”.
The reading will be followed by a discussion with the audience, featuring Elisabetta Strickland (University of Rome Tor Vergata), author of the book «Emmy Noether. Vita e opere della donna che stupì Einstein» («Emmy Noether: The Life and Work of the Woman Who Astonished Einstein»), and Annalisa Panati.
