May 12 initiative - Women in Mathemetics at IISER Pune

Dear all,

We are organizing a small gathering on May 12 from 4:00 pm onwards as part of the May 12 Initiative celebrating Women in Mathematics.

The day is observed in honour of Maryam Mirzakhani (12 May 1977 – 14 July 2017), the first woman to receive the Fields Medal.

As part of the event, we will screen two documentaries:

• Je suis Sophie Germain / I am Sophie Germain (14 min), released on the occasion of the 250th birth anniversary of Sophie Germain,
• Secrets of the Surface: The Mathematical Vision of Maryam Mirzakhani.
