The University of Technology and Applied Sciences–Suhar (UTAS-Suhar), Oman, is proud to celebrate International Women in Mathematics Day on May 12, 2026, through a special event titled “Women in Mathematics: Inspiring the Future,” organized as part of the global May 12 Initiative.
This event aims to recognize and celebrate the outstanding contributions of women in mathematics worldwide, to promote greater awareness of their vital role in advancing the discipline.
The program will feature a screening of a short documentary on Sophie Germain (1776–1831), a pioneering French mathematician whose perseverance and achievements remain a source of inspiration. In addition, two distinguished female mathematicians will deliver keynote talks, sharing their experiences and perspectives in the field.
The event will conclude with an interactive discussion session, providing attendees with an opportunity to engage with the speakers, exchange ideas, and foster meaningful connections.
