Guess who's coming this evening? A happy hour panel with ...

"I don’t think that everyone should become a mathematician, but I do believe that many students don’t give mathematics a real chance.”  This thought from M. Mirzakhani has been inspirational for the event  May 12, Celebrating Women in Mathematics organised by University of L’Aquila and Gran Sasso Science Institute. This event will take place online on June 3, 2021 and it is addressed to senior high-school students. An unusual happy hour meeting with five passionate and brilliant mathematicians whose career spans from high-school teaching to academic research and  industry. Costanza Catalano (Bank of Italy), Sandra Di Rocco (KTH), Mikaela Iacobelli (ETH), Annamaria Iezzi (Université de la Polynésie Française) e Federica Pezzotti (Liceo Classico B.Cotugno) will tell us what it means to be a mathematician and how they feed their everyday lives with the beauty and richness of mathematics.  More info at  https://tinyurl.com/aperomat

Mirzakhani ispira l'iniziativa May 12, Celebrating Women in Mathematics organizzata dall'Università dell'Aquila e dal Gran Sasso Science Institute per il prossimo 3 giugno 2021, che vede come destinatari ragazze e ragazzi degli ultimi anni delle scuole superiori. L'occasione? Un aperitivo insolito - virtuale nei mezzi ma non nella sostanza - con cinque appassionate e appassionanti matematiche, che portano la bellezza e la ricchezza della loro disciplina nei diversi ambiti della vita lavorativa, dall'insegnamento, alla ricerca universitaria, al lavoro in azienda e nelle istituzioni.
