Maryam Mirzakhani se doctoró en la Universidad de Harvard y realizó contribuciones en las áreas de la geometría hiperbólica, simpléctica y compleja, la teoría ergódica y los sistemas dinámicos. Fue la primera y única mujer en haber ganado una Medalla Fields. Falleció a los 40 años a causa de un cáncer de seno, en el 2017.

Hugo Parlier (University of Luxemburg) will present the movie, and after the projectition there will be a debate with Hugo Parlier, Raheleh Jafari (IPM, Tehran) and Tere Martínez-Seara (UPC, Barcelona), between others.
The event will be made in remote mode using the Zoom platform.
El documental "Secrets of the Surface", dirigido por George Csicsery, presenta a través de entrevistas a grandes investigadores, viajes a Irán, EE UU y Canadá y mucho material de archivo la vida y obra de la matemática Maryam Mirzakhani (1977, Irán - 2017, EE UU), por el momento la única mujer que ha obtenido la Medalla Fields, el mayor reconocimiento de las matemáticas.
