The Women in Mathematics Day Event organized by the Association for Turkish Women in Mathematics (TKMD) will take place on Thursday, May 16, 2024, at 15:40 (GMT+3).
After the opening ceremony, which consisted of a brief introduction of TKMD by Sibel Doğru Akgöl and a speech for the commemoration of Dear Maryam Mirzakahani, Dr. Pınar Aydoğdu's seminar will be held.
Then, after a short break, the documentaries "Alicia Boole in the land of polytopes" and "Kovalevskaia’s spinning top" will be shown.
Let's celebrate International Women in Mathematics Day next Sunday afternoon, May 12, 2024, from 16:30 at the Metropol Kino, in Brunnenstraße 20, 40223 Düsseldorf.
Short Film Screening
The event will open with screenings of two short films featuring the only women Fields Medalists:
Social gathering to celebrate current and past women in our department and throughout the field! We will highlight our own current and emeritus faculty, as well as female mathematicians whose profiles we have posted around our meeting room, representing a range of nationalities, races, and time periods. Open to members of the Department of Statistics at the University of Washington.
The South African Mathematical Society's Women in Mathematics (WiM) Division will be hosting a 12 May event at the CoE MaSS centre, live streamed and open to everyone within the South African mathematical community. There will be 5 regional venues where groups of women (staff and postgraduate students) from different universities are gathered together. Professor Kerstin Jordaan has agreed to speak on, "Nuggets of Wisdom - tips for your CV and applications." The talk will be open to everyone. This is one of the five venues.
There will be two presentations of female university professors in Mathematics, followed by a discussion.
Debater os desafios enfrentados pelas mulheres docentes do Instituto de Ciências Matemáticas e de Computação (ICMC) da USP, em São Carlos. Esse é o objetivo de uma mesa redonda que acontecerá na próxima terça-feira, 7 de maio, a partir das 14 horas, no auditório Luiz Antonio Fávaro, no bloco 4 do ICMC (sala 4-111).
"Celebrating Women in Mathematics: The Nigerian Pacesetters" is an event dedicated to honoring the achievements and contributions of women in the field of mathematics in Nigeria. The event aims to highlight the remarkable work of female mathematicians. Through keynote speeches, panel discussions, and presentations, the event seeks to inspire and empower the next generation of women mathematicians while fostering a supportive community for networking and collaboration.
This event is Dedicated to Secondary School Students and it features a brief presentation about Maryam Mirzakhani and International Women in Mathematics Day followed by an insightful discussion on the role of teachers in fostering girls’ interest in Mathematics including an inspiring talk on Girl's' and school mathematics and career opportunities. And, a presentation by Sofiya Giri, a Grade 10 student, on her firsthand Mathematical Learning Experience!
