The aim of this workshop is to increase the visibility of the female members of the GF (Generalized Functions) community and to facilitate scientific collaboration and networking within this group. We would like to encourage female mathematicians in the early stage of their scientific career to participate and present their first results, but the event is not restricted only to female mathematicians.

The Project goal is to make happens the event “Celebrating Women in Mathematics”, in celebration of the women in mathematics day, May 12, which also is the birthday of Mariam Mirzakhani, the only Fields Medal woman in the history of this prize.

Virtual Workshop with talks by Professor Hara Charalambous (Aristotle University of Thessaloniki) and Professor Effie Kalfagianni (Michigan State University), followed by social hour.

This is a one-day on-line workshop, aimed at graduate students in Math about different career options with a focus on how to transition from graduate school to a career.

The workshop will feature two panels of women with math degrees who are all in different careers. We will also have a presentation about how to build an effective CV and how to do a job interview. Representatives from the Fields Institute and PIMS will present about the opportunities they offer for Math graduate students.

Indian Institute of Information Technology Nagpur (India) is organising an International Webinar in honour of Maryam Mirzakhani (May 12, 1977 – July 14, 2017), the only woman to win a Fields medal for her outstanding contributions to “the dynamics and geometry of Riemann surfaces and their moduli spaces”.
