Conference

We will be joined by 3 fantastic scientists who have contributed to our understanding of the Covid-19 pandemic:

* Ellen Brooks-Pollock, a senior lecturer from Bristol University, who served on SPI-M and SAGE to advise the government's response to the pandemic, for which she was awarded an OBE.

* Meaghan Kall, the lead epidemiologist for UKHSA's Covid group, whose Twitter threads explaining the group's technical briefings saw her named one of the top 10 scientists for 2021 by Nature.

The conference is organized in honor of the International Women in Mathematics Day celebrated on May 12. Within the framework of the conference, PhD students and Master's students from Sobolev Institute of Mathematics and Novosibirsk State University will give scientific talks on various areas of mathematics.

En 2014, Maryam Mizakhani (Irán, 1977-2017) se convirtió en la primera mujer –y única hasta la fecha– en recibir la medalla Fields, el más prestigioso galardón de las matemáticas. El 12 de mayo se cumplen cinco años de su fallecimiento, en 2017. Esta conferencia servirá para describir brevemente la investigación de Mirzakhani, además de dar algunas pinceladas sobre el camino que siguió hasta convertirse en una de las matemáticas más influyentes de su generación.

 In the event commemorating the International Women's Day in Mathematics, at Hakim Sabzevari University, Four speakers representing all levels of women in mathematics are invited to the event: a student, a teacher, a student, and a university professor.

This event can be a demonstration of the ability of women at all levels of mathematics to present their achievements.

In addition, the student speaker, by reviewing the student competitions in Iran and the world, will encourage her peers to participate in these fields and will create a dynamic environment. 

Esta celebración consistirá en 6 minicharlas sobre algún aspecto relevante de la investigación matemática de 6 mujeres matemáticas de reconocido prestigio. En esta ocasión tendremos el gusto de escuchar las siguientes intervenciones: 

José Manuel Rodríguez Sanjurjo (UCM) sobre trabajos de Mary Cartwright: De las oscilaciones no-lineales a la dinámica topológica.

Pilar Romero (UCM) sobre trabajos de Veronique Dehant: Posicionamiento preciso en un mundo oscilante.

Una medaglia Fields per Archimede

Le Département de Mathématiques Informatique et Statistique de la Faculté des Sciences et Technologies de l'Université de Kinshasa, célèbre la Journée Internationale de la Femme Mathématicienne en organisant une conférence - débat au cours de laquelle les trois meilleures étudiantes par filière du Département vont présenter un résumé de leurs travaux des mémoires respectifs. Au total nous aurons 9 "perles" dont trois en Mathématiques, 3 en Informatique, option Gestion et 3 en Informatique, option Génie.

The conference will be given in french, both IRL and online. The public is not assumed to have mathematical background beyond, say, Thales & Pythagoras theorems.
