WoMaths – Congreso de Mujeres Matemáticas, nace con el deseo de contribuir a visibilizar el trabajo que realizan las mujeres en matemáticas y que sus experiencias sirvan de motivación e inspiración para que otras estudiantes inicien o se especialicen en una carrera como investigadora en alguna de las áreas de la matemática. Esta primera versión tiene como objetivo:

The 2023 workshop, aimed at high school students, will open with a short introductory seminar on the significance of International Women's Day in Mathematics and on the figure of Maryam Mirzhakani. The focus of the event will be a seminar on Emmy Noether's work followed by an escape room on the themes of the seminar.

IHES celebrates women mathematicians

On the occasion of the International Day of Women in Mathematics, as part of the "May12" initiative, the Institut des Hautes Etudes Scientifiques celebrates women mathematicians with an event for the general public.

Nathalie Ayi, lecturer at the Jacques-Louis Lions Laboratory (CNRS/Sorbonne Université), will give a talk, followed by an informal discussion with Tina Nikoukhah, post-doctoral researcher at the Borelli Center, ENS Paris-Saclay.

The conference will be followed by a cocktail.

Women mathematicians in Sciences

Every year on May 12, mathematicians across the world celebrate the International Women in Maths Day. 

To mark this date, and to increase the visibility of the impressive establishment done by women mathematicians worldwide, Department of Mathematics and Computer Science (IMADA) at SDU will hold an international conference Women Mathematicians in Sciences from May 11 to May 12, 2023, in Odense.

The main organizer of this conference is associate professor Jing Qin, together with two co-organizers Aya Mølgaard and Katrine von Bornemann Hjelmborg.

The event consists of a survey-talk given by Eleonora di Nezza, IMJ-PRG Sorbonne Université, with an opening address by Barbara Nelli, University of l'Aquila, devoted to Maryam Mirzakhani and Yulia Zdanovska. The organising Committee is formed by Martina Lanini, Domenico Marinucci, Alfonso Sorrentino and Elisabetta Strickland, Math. Dept. of the University of Rome Tor Vergata.

International women in mathematics day 2022

12 May is a joyful opportunity for the mathematical community to celebrate women in mathematics. The celebration takes place every year, all around the world. The goal of the day is to inspire women everywhere to celebrate their achievements in mathematics, and to encourage an open, welcoming, and inclusive work environment for everybody. This day is in honour of Maryam Mirzakhani, born on 12 May 1977, the first and only woman to be awarded the Fields Medal.

Panel "Mujeres matemáticas"

In commemoration of the International Women's in Mathematics Day, the "women in STEM" group of the UACJ and the state coordinator of the RMJP (Red Mundial de Jóvenes Políticos) will be performing a panel with 3 young mathematicians in order to recognize their academic trajectory as well as the problems they have been through.
