To mark the International Day of Women in Mathematics, we are organising a special film screening dedicated to the life and work of Maryam Mirzakhani. The documentary Secrets of the Surface: The Mathematical Vision of Maryam Mirzakhani explores her groundbreaking contributions to mathematics and her inspiring personal journey. The film will be screened with English subtitles on May 20, 2026, starting at 6 p.m., at the University of Information Science and Technology “St.

Our school will participate in the 8th edition of Women in Mathematics (2026), an international celebration recognizing the achievements and contributions of women in mathematics.

As part of this event, we will invite students to a special screening of the short film “Je suis Sophie Germain”, presenting the inspiring story of Sophie Germain.

Through this event, we will promote interest in mathematics, highlight the role of women in its development, and encourage reflection on equality and representation in STEM fields.

The event was organized by the Young Scientists Board of the Institute of Mathematics of NAS of Ukraine as the part of the May12 initiative.

Celebrate Women in Mathematics Day with us through an engaging film event. The program includes screenings about Sophie Germain and Maryam Mirzakhani, showcasing their groundbreaking work and inspiring future generations.

On May 11, the Seminar for Mathematics and Music will host a special event at the Mathematical Institute of the Serbian Academy of Sciences and Arts (Room 301F, Kneza Mihaila 36/III), as part of the celebration of Women in Mathematics Day (May 12) and the national science outreach initiative May Month of Mathematics.

The programme will include a brief lecture on Sophie Germain delivered by Prof. Dr Vesna Todorčević and screening of the short film Je suis Sophie Germain / I am Sophie Germain, followed by.

The film Je suis Sophie Germain will be projected and followed by a discussion on diversity in mathematics.
