All Y7&8 students will be watching the movie "Hidden Figures" and then have a discussion about why it is important that everyone's contributions can be important and to encourage an open, welcoming and inclusive work environment for everybody.

Movie screening: We will be screening the movie “Secrets of the Surface: The Mathematical Vision of Maryam Mirzakhani".
The Discipline of Mathematics and the UWI Math Club celebrate Women in Mathematics on Monday, 13th May.
Part of the celebration will be a public screening of the short documentaries "Journeys of Women in Mathematics", "Alicia Boole in the land of polytopes" and "Kovalevskaya' Spinning Top" on May 13 at 15:00 pm in the BCS Demonstration Room.

Picture a Scientist started from exploring reports in the late 1990s that exposed significant gender inequity across the sciences. As we dug into the data and spoke with dozens of scientists, we realized the vast extent of the challenges facing women and minority scientists. Despite groundbreaking efforts by the courageous scientists featured in the film and elsewhere, systemic gender bias and racism persist.
We celebrate May12 with a screening of the documentary „Secrets of the Surface - The Mathematical Vision of Maryam Mirzakhani“ at the Freie Universität Berlin. Popcorn, beer and pretzels are for free!
On May 28 at 5 pm CEST, there will be a screening of "Alicia Boole in the land of polytopes" and "Kovalevskaya' Spinning Top" for female Master and PhD students in mathematics at the Bonn Math Center, Lipschitzsaal. After the screening, we will discuss with the students at an informal get-together.
Employees and students of the Department of Mathematics at Paris Lodron Universität Salzburg will watch the short movies "Alicia Boole in the land of polytopes" and "Kovalevskaia’s spinning top" together.
