In commemoration of the International day of Women in Mathematics the Mathematics and Computer Science Department through its AWM Student Chapter will project the movies Alicia Boole in the land of polytopes and Kovalevskaia’s spinning top.

The Applied Science Department is organising screening of two short films "Alicia Boole in the land of polytopes" and "Kovalevskaia’s spinning top" on May 8, 2024 at 1:30 p.m. in Room No.33 in the context of May 12.
We will meet at the MARC, in the first floor of the math department for a study break this Friday May 3 at noon.

Reseña Evento: Con motivo de la conmemoración del día internacional de las mujeres matemáticas, nos sumamos a las actividades en reconocimiento a las notables mujeres académicas, científicas que contribuyen a la creación y descubrimiento de nuevas fronteras de la matemática.
The initiative, called “Alicia Boole: seeing the fourth dimension” will be held at Caffè Letterario Binario49 (Reggio Emilia) and will be open to anyone interested.
It will be introduced by Tindara Addabbo, Rector’s Delegate for Equal Opportunities at Università di Modena e Reggio Emilia and by Annalisa Rabitti, Councilor for Culture, Territorial Marketing and Equal Opportunities (Municipality of Reggio Emilia).
Join students and staff from the University of Wollongong School of Mathematics and Applied Statistics to celebrate the life of Iranian mathematician Maryam Mirzakhani.
The 2024 UOW event includes a screening of the documentary Secrets of the Surface on the life of Maryam, with food and movie snacks.
The event is organised by the UOW Maths and Stats Society and the Faculty of Engineering and Information Sciences, with financial support from the Australian Mathematical Society Women in Mathematics Special Interest Group (WIMSIG).
