Movie projection

At Mathematics Münster, we are celebrating gender diversity with several events and digital activities throughout the week from 13-17 May in the context of the May12 initiative.

Part of the celebration will be a public screening of the short documentaries "Alicia Boole in the land of polytopes" and "Kovalevskaya' Spinning Top" on May 13 at 1:00 pm in the Cluster building at the Department of Mathematics in Münster.

On this day, we celebrate Women in Mathematics Day! We will present a special film highlighting the extraordinary achievements of women in this field. Following that, we will have a discussion session to share our thoughts and insights, followed by a lively roundtable conversation. This event is a unique opportunity to celebrate, learn, and be inspired by the incredible contributions of women to mathematics.

Se invita a mayores de 14 años, estudiantes de enseñanza media, y público en general a participar de este evento a realizarse en el Cine Insomnia, Valparaíso, Chile, el 11 de mayo de 2024.

We will show a film about a woman mathematician, have contests and awards, and have a women in mathematics forum.

We will talk with participants about the role of women in
Science and, in particular,in  Mathematics. Data will be presented about the
female participation in Mathematics and videos about Hypatia (considered
first female mathematician in history), Sophie Germain (assumed a
masculine identity to study Mathematics) and Maryam Mirzakhani
(first woman to be awarded the Fields Medal).

The projection will be followed by the debate, and discussion around the book "Matheuses : filles, avenir des mathématiques" written by Clemence Perronnet, Claire Marc and Olga Paris-Romaskevich. 

Within the framework of the conference "Women in Mathematics"  (https://may12.womeninmaths.org/node/1043), we are organizing a screening of the film "Olga Ladyzhenskaya". The screening will be held at the Sobolev Institute of Mathematics on May 27, 2023. 

Movie projection.  Discuss with young mathematics researchers what problems they face due to gender discrimination. 

The Mid-Peninsula High School Math Club is hosting a viewing of the documentary Olga Ladyzhenskaya as part of our recognition of Women in Mathematics Day, celebrated in May 12. This documentary follows the story of an incredible mathematician with great influence in the community of math and physics.
