EWM Croatia is inviting you to the screening of the documentary Secrets of the Surface: The Mathematical Vision of Maryam Mirzakhani on May 14th, 2025 in classroom 005 of the University of Zagreb, Faculty of Science, Department of Mathematics, starting at 5:15 pm. After the screening, everyone is welcome to join for the discussion and the socializing.

We will meet in Math 175 at 11 to celebrate Women in Mathematics with Pizza and the projection of SECRETS OF THE SURFACE: The Mathematical Vision of Maryam Mirzakhani
Join us for an afternoon filled with celebrating women in mathematics, black mathematicians, and the end of Semester 2.
We will do some origami together and finish with a games' night. In between, we will be inspired by the three documentaries

Let’s explore Mirzakhani’s groundbreaking work and its impact on the mathematical community.
🕗 20:00 — Marguerite’s Theorem (Le Théorème de Marguerite) Join us for this French-Swiss drama by Anna Novion, a moving story where mathematics meets life’s greatest challenges.

The Seminar for Mathematics and Music, as part of the celebration of Women in Mathematics Day on May 12, will host a special screening of the film Secrets of the Surface: The Mathematical Vision of Maryam Mirzakhani at the Mathematical Institute of the Serbian Academy of Sciences and Arts, with the kind support of ZALA Films and the May 12 Coordination Group.
The Mirzakhani Society (Oxford Women in Maths) will be hosting a screening of 'Hidden Figures' in the maths department, in collaboration with The Invariants (Oxford Maths Society). This event will be open to all and aims to inspire conversation about women in maths who have historically been overlooked, and barriers women may still face to success. The movie screening will be followed by pizza and cupcakes in an informal setting.
