The seminar series brings together researchers interested in kinetic theory from the Zurich and Basel area. There will be one event per semester, alternating locations between the ETH Zurich and the University of Basel.
The next edition will celebrate the achievements of women in the field in the framework of the May12 initiative:
A celebration of our female mathematicians at O'Loughlin; from finance staff, to Maths teachers, extension Maths students.
Coming together to inspire each other.
Whole school assembly, where we will invite female mathematicians to come and speak to the school about their experiences.
On the occasion of the 100th anniversary of her birth, the Gran Sasso Science Institute in collaboration with the University of L’Aquila dedicate an afternoon in honor of Olga Ladyzhenskaya, an outstanding Russian mathematician and a woman ahead of her time. The event is primarily addressed to Master and PhD students as well as postdocs and researchers, however all interested people are welcome to join.
The event consists of a talk given by Martina Bukač, University of Notre Dame, Indiana, USA, on some biomedical applications of mathematical and computational models for fluid dynamics and fluid-structure interaction problems.
The program consists of a lecture by Prof. Riddhi Shah on "Distal Dynamics, Billiards and Illumination"
followed by screening of the film "Secret of the Surface".
During an event dedicated high school students, we celebrate Women in Mathematics with two educational talks. The first one is about the work and life of Maryam Mirzakhani, the second is about Women in Number Theory, with particular emphasis on Marie-Sophie Germain and Maryna Viazovska.
A lecture is presented at Shiraz University by Miss Elahe Nikaeen on the occasion of 12 May. The title is " mathematical image processing".
The Symposium will have invited lectures and contributory talks.
