The Australian Women of Mathematics exhibit is an artistic and scientific project showcasing 16 Australian mathematicians who identify as women, through a series of panels, and a book of photographs and interviews. It is an Australian version of an exhibit created in Europe by Noel Matoff, Ecke Design, Gesine Krüger and Sylvie Paycha (www. womeninmath.net).
The Australian Research Council Centre of Excellence for Mathematical and Statistical Frontiers (ACEMS) is proud to present a digital display of the exhibit, "Remember Maryam Mirzakhani". The digital exhibition will feature 18 original posters celebrating the life of Maryam Mirzakhani, the only woman to ever win the top award in mathematics, the Fields Medal. Maryam was only 40 years old when she died in 2017 from breast cancer.
To remember her, International Women in Mathematics Day is now celebrated annually now on her birthday, 12 May.
The Melbourne Mathematical Biology Group is proud to host a celebration of Women in Mathematics.
Join us on Monday 31st of May 2021, at The Hotel Windsor in Melbourne.
The day will include lunch, a panel discussion with Prof. Jessica Purcell, Dr. Sevvandi Kandanaarachchi, Dr. Hamideh Anjomshoa and Punya Alahakoon, and a series of short talks by Dr. Norm Do, Dr. Rebecca Chisholm and Prof. Asha Rao.
